We understand this may be unexpected. When the original subscription was offered, we indicated that auto-renewal would be available for existing subscribers. However, since then the programme has changed significantly — we have moved from a quarterly cadence (4 issues per year) to one issue every two months (6 issues per block), and the subscription offer itself is fundamentally different. Given these changes, we made the decision to cancel all pending auto-renewals rather than roll existing subscribers into a new and different product without their explicit consent. No one has been auto-renewed. We want you to make an informed choice about the new subscription and subscribe on your own terms.

If you hold an active subscription from the previous block, great news — you are in a strong position. Depending on when you subscribed, you may find that the new program delivers more issues within a similar timeframe than you originally paid for, as we have moved from a quarterly cadence to one issue every two months. Your existing subscription will continue as normal and your issues will be fulfilled. When your current block is complete, you will have the opportunity to subscribe to the next block on your own terms.

Your subscription starts from the next issue following your purchase. It is seamless — there are no gaps, no missed issues, and nothing you need to do. We will confirm your start issue in your subscription confirmation email.

Digital issues are delivered as downloadable PDF files with smart formatting for easy reading on any device. When your issue is ready, you will receive an email with a download link. You can download the PDF and store it on your device to read at any time, online or offline.

The Digital subscription is available worldwide with no shipping charge. Physical subscriptions — Softcover, Hardcover, and Signature — are currently only available in the United States and Canada. This is due to the significant cost and complexity of international physical fulfillment at a price point that is fair to subscribers. We are actively exploring whether a workable and cost-effective international solution exists and will communicate any developments to our community. In the meantime, international subscribers can access all 6 issues in full through the Digital tier.

You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, provided no issue from your block has been dispatched. To request a cancellation within this period, contact us at subscriptions@heavymetal.com. Once your first issue has been dispatched, all sales are final.

Yes. If you wish to upgrade to a higher tier during your current block, please contact us at subscriptions@heavymetal.com. The upgrade charge is the difference between your current tier price and the new tier price. Your remaining issues will be fulfilled at the new tier level.

Yes. Canadian orders attract a postage surcharge plus applicable taxes, both of which are clearly displayed at checkout before you complete your purchase.

Once your first issue has been dispatched, all sales are final and we do not offer refunds. We reserve the right to review requests on a case-by-case basis at our sole discretion.

Your new subscription will be added on to the end of your current block. You will not lose any remaining issues and you will not receive duplicate copies. For example, if you have 2 issues remaining and you subscribe now, your total confirmed issues will be 8 — your 2 remaining issues followed by all 6 new issues, delivered sequentially with no gap and no overlap.

Yes. Please contact us at subscriptions@heavymetal.com as soon as possible with your new delivery address. Address changes must be requested before the dispatch of the relevant issue to take effect.

We recognise that subscribers should ideally receive their issues before they appear at retail, and it is our intention to achieve this. We want to be transparent: we have experienced delays in the past getting subscriber copies out ahead of retail availability, and we acknowledge this has been frustrating. We work with fixed deadlines set by retailers and distributors which creates real logistical challenges, and we are actively working to improve our processes and fulfilment timelines. While early delivery ahead of retail is our intention, it is not a guaranteed feature of the subscription at this time. We will continue to communicate openly about our progress.
